CASTELLO DI BORGO ADORNO – CASA MUSEO CLEMEN PARROCCHETTI

Cantalupo Ligure (AL)
AM Tessera Piemonteincluded
The castle of Borgo Adorno was a fief of the Genoese Spinola family until 1518, when Tolomeo Spinola was left without legitimate children and established his heirs as the sons of his friend Agostino Adorno. Towards the end of the 17th century, the castle was damaged by a landslide. Marquis Luigi Botta Adorno then had the ancient castle partially demolished and built the present mansion.
Castello di Borgo Adorno Casa Museo Clemen Parrocchetti

The charm of Borgo Adorno Castle is due to its dominating position over an unspoilt valley, without any structural or natural disturbing elements, and to the integrity of the structure. The first documents on Borgo Adorno date back to 1176. In 1518, the castle became the property of Adorno, an important Genoese ducal family, who, from the mid-1600s, decided to work on the structure, which was transformed into the noble residence it is today. In this context, what makes Borgo Adorno castle truly unique is the presence, inside, of the contemporary art collection of Clemen Parrocchetti, a painter and artist, descendant of the Adorno family, who lived and worked here for a long time.
