CASA LAJOLO
includedThe current configuration of the dwelling dates back to the middle of the 18th century, This period is confirmed both by the external architecture and by the refined decorations on the ceilings. Particularly noteworthy are the roofs of two rooms on the ground floor, which take up, in a more intimate version, the motifs of the’East Apartment of the Palazzina di Caccia di Stupinigithe antechamber with its tapestry cartoons and the floral-patterned cabinet.
Recently, the house underwent meticulous restoration work that brought to light the late Baroque decorations on the walls, long concealed by layers of paint. In 2022, After significant consolidation work on the roof and façade carried out under the auspices of the Superintendency, the structure reopened to the public.
The tour winds its way through the ground floor and the surrounding green areas, organised in three distinct zones: the garden, the vegetable garden with the vineyard and the traditional “prà giardin”. The garden is on three levels:
- Upper level: a gravel forecourt facing the façade, bordered by boxwood wings.
- Intermediate level: divided between a formal rigour of a Italian garden (with hedges of Buxus sempervirens modelled into geometric shapes) and the density of a yew grove (Taxus baccata), acting as a natural counterpoint to the surrounding symmetry.
- Third level: a terracing dedicated to olive and fruit trees, which fades into the vegetable garden, a biodiversity presidium also used for educational purposes.
