The Casa della Memoria (House of Memory) was inaugurated on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the Liberation, on the initiative of the municipal administration, with the aim of creating a public space open to discussion and reflection on the recent history of the Italian Republic and the ideal and political values on which it is based.
The institution is dedicated to the values of freedom and democracy and is a symbolic monument to those who fought against Nazi-Fascism, as well as to the victims of terrorism and massacres in the second half of the 20th century.
All events promoted by Casa della Memoria are free of charge and include exhibitions, lectures, performances, readings and musical initiatives, which enliven the ground floor of the venue throughout the year.
The House is home to five associations - ANED, AIVITER, ANPI, the Piazza Fontana Association of 12 December 1969 and the Ferruccio Parri National Institute (formerly INSMLI) - which, in collaboration with the municipal administration, contribute to keeping alive interest in these issues that are fundamental to collective memory.
