CASA DEL SENATO

The palace, built by Lodovico d'Acaja, houses the permanent archaeological exhibition La necropoli della Doma rossa e il territorio di Pinerolo in età romana (The Necropolis of the Red Doma and the Pinerolo Territory in the Roman Age), which brings together the remains of a Roman necropolis, with about thirty burials and about five hundred grave goods.Three tombs with their grave goods have been reconstructed in the evocative setting of the hall on the ground floor of the palace, while on the upper floor other funerary objects are on display, including some precious glassware and metal and ceramic furnishings. The palace, dating back to the 15th century, is almost intact in its primitive structures. In 1713, Victor Amadeus II installed the Senate of Pinerolo (hence the name of the building) with jurisdiction over the whole of Piedmont.
