BORGATA MUSEO BALMA BOVES
includedBalma Boves, an ancient settlement built under an enormous rock overhang, located at 652 m above sea level on Monte Bracco, is today a museum hamlet that can be reached in about half an hour's easy walk from the hamlet of Rocchetta di Sanfront. Surrounded by centuries-old chestnut woods, the site is a fascinating testimony of perfectly preserved rural life. Welcomed by a waterfall at the end of the mule track bordered by stone slabs, one finds oneself immersed in an autonomous and functional agricultural microcosm, inspired by the strictest rule of space economisation, which, with its buildings and living and working environments, projects the visitor into an era long gone. Beyond the Balma, an uphill itinerary leads to Rocca La Casna, where some examples of rock engravings can be admired. Since 2005 the site, owned by the Municipality of Sanfront, can be visited with the guided tour service, organised by the Vesulus Association, on weekends from April to October.
