ACDB – ALESSANDRIA CITTÀ DELLE BICICLETTE
includedLocated on the third floor of Palazzo del Monferrato, the museum ACdB (Alexandria City of Bicycles) celebrates the pioneering role of an area that, for over fifty years, was the beating heart of heroic cycling. From the Unification of Italy to the Great War, the museum unfolds a tale of hard work and passion: it is a fresco of an era populated by legendary Champions and faithful wingmen, by visionary craftsmen like John Maino and illustrious signatures such as Eliso Rivera, co-founder of the Sports Gazette.
It all began in 1867, when the entrepreneur Carlo Michel brought one of the first velocipedes from the Paris Expo to Alexandria. From that first seed sprouted a tradition that has made this province the Terra dei Campionissimi, cradle of myths such as Coppi, Girardengo, Gerbi and Cuniolo. Among restored historical models, relics and unpublished testimonies, the visitor is invited to rediscover the roots of a sport that became a popular legend here.
