Evening opening hours, live music and an illuminated view of the city

A month of celebrations and special events awaits visitors and worshippers at the Basilica of Superga. To mark the feast day of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, to whom this imposing Turin church is dedicated, a packed programme of events has been organised to allow visitors to experience the magic of the hill as summer draws to a close.
Turin from above at night and the historic tram routes Until 26 September, the Basilica will be open for special evening sessions every Friday and Saturday, from 9.00 pm to midnight. As well as access to the interior, the cloister and the Royal Tombs, visitors will be able to go up to the panoramic balcony of the dome to enjoy the view of the illuminated city. Places for these visits can be booked on the official website www.basilicadisuperga.org.
On Saturday evenings, to round off the experience, visitors can take the historic Sassi-Superga tram, operated by GTT, up to the summit. The refreshment stand will also be serving “Sapori dell’Eremo” artisan ice creams, made by the social inclusion bakery run by Sermig in Pecetto Torinese.
Free concerts and liturgical services Music will take centre stage inside the church, with four concerts offering free admission subject to availability:
- Friday 11 September (9.30 pm): Young Strings, a string ensemble conducted by Luciana Valeriani (Laboratorio del Suono).
- Saturday 12 September (9.00 pm): International choral concert featuring the Europa Cantat Choir from Reano and the Cor de Rupià.
- Sunday 13 September (4.00 pm): Guitars of Peace & Co., under the direction of Gian Paolo Lopresti (Laboratorio del Suono).
- Friday 18 September (6.00 pm): Duo Troilo Comet (harp and flute), a performance featured in the programme of the MiTo Settembre Musica festival.
Among the main religious events, it is also worth noting the Holy Mass on Sunday 13 September at 11.00, celebrated to mark the twinning with the Basilica of Mary Help of Christians in Turin, whose choir will lead the service.
