Contemporary Day

Saturday 10 October returns Contemporary Day, the event organised by AMACI which, every year, takes contemporary art beyond its usual boundaries, involving museums, foundations, galleries, associations and independent venues throughout Italy. The 22nd edition, devoted to the topic Geographies of the Contemporary World, invites us to view the present as a constantly shifting space, made up of territories, communities, relationships and identities that are in a state of flux.

The Piedmont is taking part with a packed programme of exhibitions, tours, workshops and special events. In Turin, the GAM is offering free admission to its collections and current exhibitions, with a workshop led by the artist Khete fish. At the Palace of Venaria Entry to the Gardens is free all day long, so you can explore the contemporary artworks that interact with the architecture and the landscape.

A Rivoli, the Cerruti Collection is taking part in the initiative, offering free admission and guided tours; at Vercelli, StudioDieci presents a project dedicated to Geographies of the Contemporary World, the result of a collaboration with the Ambrogio Alciati Art School. Also Biella join in with Atlantica, an exhibition by the Argentine artist Laura Fernández, which blends abstract painting, embroidery and themes related to water.

A day to discover just how vibrant and relevant contemporary art is: an opportunity to explore Piedmont through different languages, ideas and perspectives.
