Evolving Soundscapes #4
The public programme for the exhibition ‘Song Dong. Soul Out’
Now in its fourth year Evolving Soundscapes, the festival curated by Chiara Lee and Freddie Murphy, which brings the best of the international experimental music scene, performance art and sound art to Turin (and beyond), with a special focus on Asian and diaspora perspectives.
The 2026/2027 edition has been conceived and developed in close conjunction with the MAO’s temporary exhibition Song Dong. Soul Out, exploring the dimensions of impermanence, intergenerational memory, urban transformation and the reinvention of traditions. In this context, sound becomes a living, fluid space, capable of moving between individual perception and the collective dimension, between ancestral ritual and futurist imagery.
Once again this year, the project retains its widespread and multi-centred nature: the programme will be staged in the halls of the MAO Museum of Oriental Art, will explore the cultural synergies of Combo and will intertwine with the spaces of the OGR Turin within the framework The Quantum Effect. A journey comprising post-human DJ sets, wearable installations, ritual calligraphy performances and radical vocal experiments.
