ARTE POVERA | Preserving is revitalising

Alongside the new commissions, the Museum is presenting a major refurbishment from the works of Arte povera of his Collection. This historic centre represents a’founding identity for the Rivoli Castle: not only because of the exceptional value of his collection, but because the international reach of the movement was decisive for the the very founding of the Museum in 1984.

The new exhibition layout dedicates one independent space, showcasing the masterpieces in the Collection, including those on loan from the CRT Art Foundation. If the foreground features the works of Alighiero Boetti, Piero Gilardi e Michelangelo Pistoletto, the halls of the second floor are transformed into a full-scale group exhibition featuring works by John Anselm, Pier Paolo Calzolari, Jannis Kounellis, Mario Merz, Giuseppe Penone e Gilberto Zorio, to which will be added from October 2026 a themed exhibition room on Emilio Prini.

The initiative reaffirms the Museum’s role in to preserve, study and make accessible a public heritage that is still capable of engaging with the present. As part of this initiative to promote Turin as a creative hub, from October 2026, the Castello di Rivoli will also, for the first time, dedicate a room to Carol Rama, one of the most significant figures in twentieth-century art.
