The exhibition Walter Bonatti. The rediscovered comics represents an unprecedented visual and narrative chapter in the biography of one of the most iconic explorers of the 20th century. Bonatti, legendary mountaineer, photographer and chronicler of his own exploits, lives again through a surprising dimension: the comic strip. The exhibition, curated by Angelo Ponta and promoted by the MuseomontagnaIt explores the direct collaboration between Bonatti and comic book authors who were not only inspired by his exploits, but also received pointers, insights and testimonies from him, transforming his experiences into illustrated boards.
The exhibition features a rich selection of original illustrations, sketches and scriptstracing a path from the great alpine walls at Great American Northup to theAfrica and the oceanshow Bonatti became a popular charactercapable of crossing the boundaries of the mountains to enter the collective imagination. A particularly emotional aspect is the homage to Enea Riboldi, a Milanese cartoonist who recently passed away, whose original plates created for the first album dedicated to the mountaineer are exhibited.
An opportunity to discover the graphic and narrative side of Bonatti, designed not only for mountain enthusiasts, but also for the ninth artof the adventurous storytelling and the illustrated memory.
