Metaphysical Visions. Vasco Ascolini meets Canova, Thorvaldsen and De Chirico
Bagatti Valsecchi Museum - Milan (MI)
includedFrom Friday 16.06.2023 to Sunday 3.12.2023
The Bagatti Valsecchi Museum and the Pasquale Battista Foundation present the first anthological exhibition in Milan dedicated to the photographer Vasco Ascolini.
The exhibition makes homage to the Emilian artist tracing its production through a selection of over seventy of the most significant works dedicated to ancient sculpture.
Vasco Ascolini's photographs will be related to works from the past, such as small marble heads, plaster casts of Antonio Canova e Bertel Thorvaldsen and paintings by Giorgio De Chirico, in an exhibition that seeks to emphasise the dialectic between the ancient and the contemporary, recreating in the museum rooms that metaphysical atmosphere pursued by the Reggio Emilia photographer.
The Bagatti Valsecchi Museum, increasingly attentive to the dialogues between ancient and contemporary - already inherent in the 19th-century approach of the brothers Fausto and Giuseppe Bagatti Valsecchi - places the selected works within its fascinating permanent itinerary, inviting the visitor to immerse himself in a journey through memories, theatre and metaphysics.
