VETTE. Stories of sport and mountains
Besta Palace and Tellinum Antiquarium - Teglio (SO)
includedFrom Wednesday 28.01.2026 to Sunday 30.08.2026
The exhibition VETTE. Stories of sport and mountains, edited by Rosario Maria Anzalone e Silvia Anna Biagi, offers an articulate reflection on the relationship between sport, mountains and society, highlighting how sporting practices have profoundly affected the identity of Alpine communities and the landscape itself. Included in the programme of the’Milan Cortina 2026 Cultural Olympiad, the exhibition is articulated through a thematic itinerary developed between the indoor and outdoor spaces of the Besta Palace, Renaissance treasure trove of history.
The exhibition weaves together the stories of Olympic and Paralympic athletes, of the women of the Alps, of the pioneer tourists, of the transformed landscapes and the mountain communities. From the first floor with the billboards of winter sports, to the court where the history of the Winter Olympic Games, to the Hall of Honour with a rich display of vintage skis and equipment, VETTE guides the visitor through a fascinating and layered narrative.
Special attention is paid to the female dimension, emerging in the stories of sports pioneers and alpine women, and to the mountains as a living, fragile place, to be preserved and understood. Contemporary art, with works by Luca Conca e Vincenzo Martegani, completes the journey, inviting reflection on the future of the mountains between tourism, climate change and sustainability.
A cultural experience that combines memory and vision, history and identity, local roots and international openness, in a choral project supported by national institutions, museums, archives and collectors.
