La Palace of Monza presents the major retrospective exhibition dedicated to Michelangelo Pistoletto, one of the most iconic figures of the’Arte Povera and the international art scene. Curated by Francesco Monico and promoted by the Villa Reale and Monza Park Consortium with the Cittadellarte – Pistoletto Foundation, the initiative takes place within the historic neoclassical spaces designed by the architect Giuseppe Piermarini for the Archduke Ferdinand of Habsburg.
The exhibition has been created with the aim of placing artistic creation at the heart of interreligious and intercultural dialogue, drawing inspiration from the principle of Preventive peace. The exhibition brings together historical masterpieces and recent installations, ranging from his earliest works on canvas from 1957 to his famous Mirrored paintings, including key works by the’Arte Povera such as The Venus of the Rags and the Fewer items. The route begins in the’The forecourt of the Villa Reale with the Flags of the world’s religions, continuing into the octagonal arena Atrium of the Staffieri with The Stone of Infinity and the Interfaith Round Table for Preventive Peace. In the magnificent halls of the First Noble Floor Among the emblematic works on display are The Priest, Temple, Annunciation, The Trumpets of the Last Judgement, Rocking Temple, The rotation of the mirror, The Trinamic Code e Spiritual arc. The exhibition culminates in the evocative Royal Gardens with a new monumental installation by the Third Paradise, comprising one hundred benches made entirely from recycled and recyclable materials, reflecting the artist’s social and environmental commitment.
