On the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the Louis Mallé Museum, the city of Dronero celebrates one of its most illustrious artistic protagonists with the major monographic exhibition Matteo Olivero. A journey of art and lifea project shared with Mamo Educational Foundation e Albertina Academy of Fine Arts in Turin. Edited by Ivana Mulatero e Antonio Musiari, the exhibition unfolds through five thematic sections and proposes over 90 worksincluding paintings, sketches, sculptures, drawings and documents, some of which unpublishedfrom public and private collections.
Matteo Olivero (1879-1932), Divisionist painter and central figure of early 20th century Italian painting, is investigated in all his artistic and spiritual complexity. The itinerary starts from elements biographical as the extraordinary Portrait of the mother in Val Varaita costumeto works of social realismviews of a Dronero industrious, landscapes of the Cottian Alps, intense portraits and suggestions spiritual and religious inspired by the mountain peaks. The link between Olivero and Dronero is also highlighted through a narrative that weaves together private and public episodes, archive documents and visual testimonies.
Among the works on display, numerous unpublished from the Olivero Fund of the Historical Archives of the City of Saluzzo and the Civic Collectionsjuxtaposed with loans from distant collections. A unique opportunity to delve into the figure of an artist who, through a refined pictorial language, was able to translate the Alpine landscape into inner vision and religious.
To enrich the exhibition offer, a rich Public Programme with lectures, photographic events and guided tours, allowing direct contact with the places experienced and represented by Olivero.
