Another 20th century

The exhibition dedicated to the collections of works on paper of GAM Turincurated by Fabio Cafagna and Elena Volpato, represents an unprecedented opportunity to explore the museum's graphic heritage through a unified itinerary. The exhibition unfolds chronologically from the ferments of the Secession of the early years of the century up to the experiments of the artistic generation of the nineties, offering a comprehensive overview of the evolution of visual languages of the 20th century.

The exhibition corpus consists of over 600 jobsincluding drawings, watercolours, engravings, prints e paintings on paper, many of which became part of the collections thanks to the fundamental support of the Guido and Ettore De Fornaris Foundation and the Fondazione Arte CRT. This vast collection of works allows us to discover a “different 20th century”, revealing the more free and intimate of the creative process. Paper, in fact, is the real artists' workshop, a medium where the immediacy of the sign and formal research are manifested without the constraints of the great pictorial work. Visiting the rooms, the public can immerse themselves in a narrative made of introspection, study and expressive audacity, grasping the very essence of modernity in a constant dialogue between tradition and innovation.
