Journey through the memory of the former 'Giovanni Cena' Institute
Pier Alessandro Garda Civic Museum - Ivrea (TO)

From Saturday 27.09.2025 to Sunday 26.10.2025
The exhibition TRAME represents an exciting and profound journey into the collective memory of the city of Ivrea, through the photographic testimony of the former 'Giovanni Cena' Institute, now destined for demolition. Conceived as a collateral event to the project Olivetti and the Magnum photographersexhibition was created thanks to the support of the General Directorate for Contemporary Creativity of the Ministry of Culture, within the framework of the Strategy Photography 2024and with the contribution of the Guelpa Foundation.
The photographs of Mino Di Vita, an artist attentive to urban and social change, transformed the building's classrooms and corridors into rooms of memoryspaces that, although emptied of their original function, continue to tell stories. Not mere images of a farewell, but a real emotional weavingcapable of interweaving past and present.
The exhibition returns to the public the intense gaze of former students - including Gianni Girardi, Carla Pognant Viù and Irene Quaglia - and Professor Jole Pignetwho relived those places with a mixture of nostalgia and gratitude. Their personal experiences become part of a community storytellingwhich recognises the value of roots and the need to accompany urban change with a shared awareness.
In this dialogue between images, memory and emotions, the Museo Civico P.A. Garda invites visitors to experience art as collective processing toolcapable of turning the loss of a building into a symbolic bridge into the future.
