The journey, the metamorphosis, human becoming
Puppet and Puppet Theatre Museum - Casa Gianduja - Turin (TO)
From Saturday 7 November 2026 to Sunday 31 January 2027
On the occasion of the bicentenary of the birth of Carlo Collodi, this major exhibition and performance project celebrates the journey of initiation undertaken by the world’s most famous puppet. Organised by the Cricket Marionette Foundation, the exhibition offers a unique journey that weaves together the foundation’s incredibly rich heritage – comprising puppets, puppets, toy theatres, posters, rare books e vintage games dating from between 1890 and 1965 – alongside the valuable artefacts from the archive of the Gian Renzo Morteo Research Centreincluding ancient theatre scripts, recordings of historical performances e stock photographs.
The exhibition programme is further enhanced by the artist’s solo exhibition Akira Zakamoto, entitled “Pinocchio-san ピノキオ / ピノッキオ”, which creates a visual and conceptual bridge between Collodi’s work and contemporary Eastern imagery. The project extends across the entire urban fabric through a widespread exhibition that brings the shop windows of the’Regional Council Public Relations Office, the local shops San Salvario and the bookshops in the city of Turin, alongside a packed programme of conferences and theatre performances. A wonderful opportunity to Gianduja House to explore human growth, change and the search for identity through the art of puppetry.
