The evocative setting of the 18th-century rooms at the The Pages’ Hall features an extraordinary selection of thirty-three works by the Neapolitan artist and designer Gennaro Reginacurated by Walter Guadagnini. The exhibition forms the pages of a highly personal visual and emotional “atlas”, which unfolds around a dual line of inquiry rooted in the artist’s sensibility. On the one hand, the genealogical heritage linked to the family tradition – active in art publishing and the antiques trade since the late nineteenth century – emerges strongly: the artist intervenes directly on antique cards, 18th-century maps, engravings and historical archive material, setting in motion a process of rewriting and aesthetic regeneration. On the other hand, the Vesuvius, an iconic element, an archetype and a symbolic device that has been a constant feature since the very beginning of his career as a painter.
Through variations in colour and the combined use of acrylic, collage Through the interplay of materials and layers, the works on display establish a poetic and captivating dialogue between Naples e Turin. In this sequence of emotionally charged images, the classical myths of the sirens and the patron saints are interwoven with highly topical issues and social commentary, giving rise to a dynamic picturesque journey. The exhibition also serves as a significant and heartfelt tribute to the renowned art critic Luca Beatrice, who died prematurely and was a key figure in the exhibition projects of the Savoy complex, recalling the conceptual origins of the original project, which was conceived in the spirit of cultural exchange.
