Suggestions. The Fairy of Worthless Objects
MUSEUM VILLA BERNASCONI THE HOUSE THAT SPEAKS - Cernobbio (CO)
includedFrom Friday 30.05.2025 to Monday 22.09.2025
The exhibition Suggestions by Erika Trojer presents an astonishing route under the banner of reuse creativity and the valorisation of discarded materials. The works of the artist from Chernobyl, known as the 'fairy of useless objects', stem from her deep passion for forgotten objects, transformed into installations charged with aesthetic and emotional meaning. In the foreground we find the Infinite Tapestriescomposed of countless metal caps collected, cleaned, flattened, perforated and hand-woven with metal wires: weavings that evoke endless cobwebs, the result of work that is as meticulous as it is therapeutic. Each cap becomes a sign of continuity, of a personal ritual that dissolves time and reflects the artist's state of mind.
Alongside this production are the Barbies R(e)fashion, dolls covered with scraps of fabric and ribbons reborn from forgotten wardrobes. Velvets, lace and buttons, collected in an imaginary atelier, bring dreams and past stories back to life: each doll is a little poem of fantasy, magic and shared creativity, inaugurated by Trojer and realised by Enrica Azzali. The exhibition invites us to reflect on the value of objects, the beauty of recycling and the power of art to transform the ephemeral into the eternal. The dialogue between waste material and aesthetics is transformed into an emotional journey, capable of arousing wonder and introspection.
