This exhibition represents a great historical journey narrating beyond 220 years of national history through a careful selection of original works and documents. The visitor is taken on an immersive journey that starts from the birth of the Kingdom of Italy Napoleonic until the Referendum of 2 June 1946, moment of the birth of the Italian Republic.
The exhibition itinerary, divided into seven chronological sections, boasts over 300 works. Among the treasures on display are official paintings, historical uniforms, decorations e autograph proclamations, as well as valuable objects belonging to sovereigns. Particular emphasis is given to the origins of the Savoy dynasty and the epic of the Italian Risorgimento under the leadership of Victor Emmanuel II.
On the occasion of the centenary of his death, the exhibition dedicates a special focus at Queen Margaret, the first Queen of Italy, celebrating her deep connection with the Royal Villa of Monza and the period shared with Umberto I. The journey continues by analysing the realm of Victor Emmanuel III and concludes with the figure of Humbert II, the so-called King of May. It is not just a simple exhibition, but a real a journey through authentic objects that have crossed and shaped the History of our country, offering tangible evidence of the evolution of national identity.
