includedFrom Saturday 25.01.2025 to Sunday 2.03.2025
On the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the Luigi Mallé Civic Museum, the exhibition Symbols from the Lands of Monviso opens a rich programme of celebrations with an exhibition of rare beauty and cultural depth. Curated by Ivana Mulatero, this exhibition traces the chivalrous world of the Marquisate of Saluzzo and Old Piedmont through the works of the artist and traveller Gabriele Reina, known for his pictorial mastery and his love of Occitan stories.
The rooms of the museum are transformed into an atmospheric chamber of wonderswith renaissance portraits, Monviso landscapes, exquisite banners painted on damask, e heraldic coats of arms that evoke the glories of a bygone era. Among the emblems on display are those of the lords of the Marquisate of Saluzzo, Provence and the Dauphiné, as well as the famous coats of arms of the Counts of Toulouse and the Lords of Coucy, literary inspiration for Alexandre Dumas.
A true treasury of art and symbolism, the fruit of Reina's passion, combining the pictorial tradition with historical and cultural heritage. The visitor can discover the charm of Captain's Will, historical testimony related to General Michele Antonio of Saluzzo, and admire some of the more than one thousand heraldic works in the artist's private collection.
The exhibition is an immersive experience in the chivalric culture and figurative art of the late Middle Ages, enriched by traditional melodies performed during the opening by the group The Adrech.
