The exhibition explores the fluid boundary between the sculpture, the design, the painting and thearchitecture, transforming the spaces of the CAP by Milan into a visual experience, a tactile and immersive experience of extraordinary power.
Through a well-structured and dynamic exhibition layout, visitors have the opportunity to admire over two hundred works on loan from prestigious collections and art institutions from around the world. The selection includes his classic works Minimes — small woven pieces conceived as personal diaries, created during her frequent journeys between the’Latin America, l’Asia and theEurope —, large-scale sculptures made of interwoven wires, impressive, colourful waterfalls and large site-specific installations specifically designed to interact with the lines and light of the architecture of Ignatius Gardella at CAP.
Born in Hastings, Nebraska, and a pupil of Josef Albers to theYale University, the artist has succeeded in integrating the compositional structures of the Modernism using the ancient traditional textile techniques studied in Mexico, Peru e Chile. The exhibition highlights her free use of colour, raw materials and three-dimensional forms, inviting visitors to rethink space through a physical and sensory perception of the textile material.
