Sasha Stiles. Lorem Ipsum Variorum

The great ledwall on the ground floor of Palazzo Citterio a Milan is hosting the new project by the American artist and poet of Mongolian origin Sasha Stiles, edited by Clelia Patella. The exhibition, organised in collaboration with the National Museum of Digital Art, reflects on the themes of the languageof the memoryof the translation and theartificial intelligence, exploring the relationship between writing, publishing culture e contemporary generative systems.

The work takes the famous placeholder text as its starting point Lorem ipsum, a distorted fragment of the On the Ends of Good and Evil by Marcus Tullius Cicero. This ancient text, altered by centuries of copying and transmission, becomes a metaphor for a language that spans time, changes and gives rise to unexpected interpretations. Images taken from digital posters, editorial pages, code snippets, printing plates e illuminated signs reorganised into new relationships.

Set against the backdrop of the Grand Brera and in an ideal dialogue with the Braidense National Library, the project transforms the LED wall into a snapshot of the present. The use of the’AI Technelegy – the artist’s alter ego – enables the original text to be broken down in order to reconstruct a previously unpublished version multimedia poem, demonstrating how writing arises from a collective layering of memories and interpretations.
