To mark the twentieth anniversary of the release of the famous animated film CARS: ROARING ENGINESthe National Automobile Museum is hosting an exceptional special exhibition within the evocative Formula Room. The star attraction of the exhibition is Lightning McQueen, the gleaming red racing car bearing the legendary number 95, known for being the most promising rookie in the history of the Piston Cup.
Skillfully positioned amongst the iconic racing cars of the Museum Collection, the display of the racing car creates a unique and evocative dialogue between the cinema, the popular culture and the glorious history of the car. The project, which arose from the valuable collaboration with Disney Italy, also features a packed programme of free workshops led by the artists Disney in collaboration with Jointsas well as projections cinematic adaptations of the entire animated trilogy.
The initiative also offers an engaging educational experience for nursery schools, primary e lower secondary schools, offering themed guided tours that weave together real-life motor racing classics with the adventures of Radiator Springs. An immersive experience ideal for families, enthusiasts and school groups, designed to rediscover the fundamental values of friendship and a passion for motoring.
'Cars' Film Festival: The Trilogy at MAUTO

To mark the special exhibition held at the Formula Roomthe National Automobile Museum presents a film festival dedicated to the adventures of Lightning McQueen and his inseparable friends from Radiator Springs. The film series offers the chance to rediscover the entire trilogy produced by Disney e Pixar, exploring the career of the famous driver number 95 from his remarkable development in the first chapter right through to the major technological challenges and international races described in the subsequent chapters.
Watching the films offers an opportunity for deeper exploration, blending the charm of the tenth art with the thrill of real-life motor racing, as showcased within the museum’s exhibition galleries. The screenings are designed to offer a shared moment of entertainment for young and old alike, allowing the public to immerse themselves in the atmosphere of the Piston Cup and along the legendary Route 66, celebrating the core values of friendship, team spirit and a passion for motorsport.
