Rodolfo Bonetto. The rhythm of design

Thirty of the most significant objects designed by Rodolfo Bonetto, together with a selection of the percussion instruments that meant so much to the designer's personality, will be on display from 8 March at the ADI Design Museum in Milan.

To Bonetto - a jazz musician by passion 'lent to design', in his own words, Compasso d'Oro alla Carriera in 1991 - we owe a contribution to design and organisation that has become part of the profile of Italian design at an international level. He worked on technical projects for specialists as well as objects for the general public, which is why the exhibition focuses above all on the variety of 'rhythms' with which Bonetto was able to design products for even very different users: from machine tools to automobiles, to furnishing objects, to the famous Rotor multi-cell public telephone, designed in 1987 for SIP. The exhibits also include the Sferyclock watch for F.lli Borletti (Compasso d'Oro 1964).

Walter De Silva (a personal friend of Bonetto's as well as a colleague in the profession) curated the exhibition and installation project together with Mario Antonioli, while the catalogue is edited by Angelo Lorenzo Crespi. The exhibition is accompanied by a video of the star designer with music by Red Ronnie inspired by the Brazilian musical tradition, one of Bonetto's favourites.
