Roberto Capucci. Dressing THE muses

The Accorsi-Ometto Museum of Decorative Arts by Turin presents an exhibition curated by Silvia Mira which celebrates the creative genius of Roberto Capucci through his muses. The exhibition brings together fifty-seven intricate garments that embody the idea of tangible, timeless beauty. The exhibition begins with a regal wedding dress and then winds its way through iconic creations, including the extraordinary velvet dress worn by Rita Levi Montalcini during the handover of the Nobel Prize in Medicine in 1986 in Stockholm.

The link with the world of entertainment and culture is evident in the outfits designed for cinema legends such as Silvana Pampanini, Catherine Spaak, Lucia Bosè e Valentina Cortese. The section dedicated to opera showcases the magnificent costumes created for performers of the calibre of Raina Kabaivanska e Katia Ricciarelli. The palace’s permanent exhibition rooms, in perfect harmony with the period furnishings, feature twenty exclusive creations designed for the Italian high aristocracy and leading business figures.

Rounding off the exhibition is a wide selection of sketches and illustrations that trace the master’s creative process from the 1950s to the 2000s, including his early experiments in Paris and the sketches for the ballet The Creatures of Prometheus and a special section dedicated to the duchess Maria Luisa Gaetani of Aragon, a prominent figure in the worlds of collecting, photography and social activism.
