PICTURE GALLERY OF THE ALBERTINE ACADEMY OF FINE ARTS - Turin (TO)
includedFrom Thursday 18.06.2026 to Sunday 8.11.2026
The new layout of the Albertina Gallery of Fine Arts by Turin It offers a unique opportunity to discover the institution’s historical and artistic heritage, revealing it to the public works and drawings that are usually inaccessible. This exhibition project, born out of a collaboration between cultural institutions, private collecting e art-historical research, highlights the outcome of important and recent restoration work. The guest of honour for the tour is a distinguished 17th-century painting by Giovanni Battista Salvi, known as Sassoferrato, made possible thanks to the collaboration with the The Genta Giandomenico ETS Foundation and with the The Steven and Natalie Maksin Family Collection by Las Vegas. The painting is placed in direct dialogue with another significant work by the same artist from the permanent collection of the Art Gallery.
The exhibition, curated by the art historian Andrea Donati, offers historical and critical insights designed to provide thought-provoking forums for discussion. In addition to its main focus, the exhibition features other exceptional discoveries: a rare painting by Gandini del Grano, the renowned performer of the painting in Parma in the first Five hundred, the precious and fragile 17th-century drawings by Nicolas Lagneau, historically donated by the king Charles Albert, and finally an original and interesting study on twentieth-century painting centred on the figure of Enrico Thovez. A true rediscovery of “hidden treasures” capable of moving and inspiring us.
