Here and elsewhere. The Environments of Paolo Scheggi 1964-1971
MAGA MUSEUM - Gallarate (VA)
includedFrom Sunday 24.05.2026 to Sunday 11.10.2026
The exhibition project is entirely dedicated to the figure of Paolo Scheggi, one of the most significant protagonists of the international experimental investigations of the 1960s. Heir to the Spatialism and among the founders of monochrome and object painting, Scheggi is celebrated through an exhibition curated by Emma Zanella e Ilaria Bignottiin collaboration with thePaolo Scheggi Association. The main occasion of the exhibition is the entrance of the work Modular structure (1967) in the permanent collections of the MA*GA Museum by Gallarate, thanks to the support of the PAC2024 - Plan for Contemporary Art promoted by the Ministry of Culture.
The exhibition explores a fundamental aspect of the Tuscan artist's research: the’plastic integration to architecture. The route runs between projects of liveable and walkable environments, made from the mid-1960s until his death. Visitors are invited to discover a peculiar conception of space, understood as the engine of experience and contemplation, closely linked to a reflection on the time. The environment thus becomes a laboratory of experimentation with perception, a place of conjunction between a archetypal past and a prophetic future. Through works, literary and iconographic documents, the exhibition restores the complexity of a language that fuses instances mythical-political and formal rigour, offering an experience immersive and engaging in the heart of the neo-avant-garde.
