House of Remembrance - Milan (MI)
includedFrom Saturday 5.07.2025 to Sunday 21.09.2025
The exhibition Fleas more than before, now represents a intense dialogue between contemporary art and historical memoryin the heart of the Milan House of Memoryon the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the Liberation. The artist Valerio Heliogabalo Torrisiwith the curatorship of Salvatore Cristofarohas constructed a poetic and political journey in which the broken lives of the protagonists of the Resistance return to speak through unpublished works, born from a direct comparison with the archives of ANED and theFerruccio Parri National Institute.
Three main installations form the backbone of the exhibition: Courtyard songs, Last Songs e New song. Each one explores a different form of emotional, historical and collective resistancegiving new voice to farewell letters, drawings of imprisonment and dreams of freedom. From archival documentation to artistic reworking, each work becomes living testimony of a past that becomes present, civil evocation and active engagement.
The exhibition also spreads into the urban space, with sentences on LED screens distributed throughout the city, turning Milan into a place of shared memory. Part of the project Time of peace and freedom. Eighty years of Liberation promoted by the Municipality of Milan, Fleas more than before, now is configured as a collective singingfragile and powerful, against all rhetoric and for the reaffirmation of democratic and resistance values.
