Picabia. Opening the Doors of the Night

The largest exhibition ever staged in [...], is coming to the exhibition spaces Italy dedicated to Francis Picabia, one of the most original, elusive and influential figures in the art of the 20th century. Edited by Anne Berest Picabia and promoted by the Municipality of Milan - Culture, produced in collaboration with Royal Palace e MADEINART, the exhibition offers a unique opportunity to immerse oneself in the creative world of an artist who is constantly evolving.

Throughout his extraordinary career, the author came into direct contact with the most prominent figures of modernity, establishing crucial dialogues and exchanges with masters of the calibre of Marcel Duchamp, Gertrude Stein e Pablo Picasso. Without ever rigidly identifying with any single movement, he moved through various artistic currents with profound creative freedom, such as the’Impressionismthe Fauvismthe Cubism and the Dadaism, establishing itself in its own right as one of the very first pioneers of the’abstraction.

The extensive exhibition brings together over 170 works including paintings, drawings, photographs, documents and valuable archive materials from leading international collections. The conceptual core of the exhibition explores the allure and theme of the night in the artist’s work, understood as an intense existential metaphor for life, desire and continues reinvention formal and poetic.
