Temporary exhibition
Warrior Plants
A journey through the world of plants that think they are animals
Freidano Ecomuseum - Settimo Torinese (TO)
From Sunday 4.10.2026 to Sunday 28.02.2027
An exhibition that invites visitors to discover the lesser-known side of the plant world: that of struggle, adaptation and survival. Often regarded as immobile and passive, plants are in fact the key players in genuine strategies of deception, defence and manipulation, to the detriment of insects. Via live plants and insects, giant models, samples, extensive photo sections e video installations, the story shows how the plant kingdom is driven by complex dynamics, consisting of chemical attacks, invisible alliances e remarkable resilience.
An accessible and engaging itinerary that appeals to families, schools and enthusiasts. From carnivorous plants, to those that produce toxic substances from those that defend themselves against predators, to those that deceive insects with their shapes and smells, right through to species capable of colonising the harsh environments, the exhibition challenges the conventional view of nature. Edited by Raffaella Fiore e Francesco Tomasinelli, in collaboration with the’Città Studi Botanical Garden, Milan and theBotanical Garden of the University of Turin, the proposal forms part of the programme of the’Freidano Ecomuseum by Settimo Torinese in line with the Festival of Innovation and Science. The exhibition invites visitors to view nature not as a passive backdrop, but as a a living, dynamic and active system, providing an opportunity to reflect on the relationship between human beings and the environment and on the protection of biodiversity.
