The exhibition Pavia 1525: the arts in the Renaissance and the tapestries of battle offers a fascinating immersive journey into the heart of the Lombardy Renaissanceintegrating valuable paintings, drawings, sculptures, illuminated codices and objects ofdecorative artflanked by a magnificent 16th-century wooden choir from the Church of San Marino, specially restored for the occasion.
The centrepiece of the exhibition is the seven spectacular tapestries of the Capodimonte Museum in Naples depicting the Battle of Paviaexecuted by the Flemish school of Bernard van Orleyand offered in a exceptional loan to give back to the city the visual memory of one of the most significant events in its history. This visual narrative is complemented by the presence of works by Leonardo da Vinci, Peter Perugino, Ambrogio Bergognone, Bernardino Zenale and other masters of the time, also the result of loans from important Italian and international institutions. The exhibition thus becomes a unique opportunity to rediscover Pavia as a crossroads of art, politics and culturein which historical memory dialogues with artistic beauty, offering the visitor an immersive experience spanning three dimensions: art, history and the city's identity.
