Artificial Paradises

The exhibition takes the form of an evocative project contemporary art designed by Giorgio Tentolini, born out of an in-depth dialogue with the permanent collection of the San Lorenzo Archaeological Museum. The exhibition route winds its way through the museum’s most iconic spaces, including the mosaicsthe Nymphaeum, the sculptures by Venus and Dianathe garden, the Nereids and the funerary stelae. These historical elements form the conceptual framework for a detailed exploration of the nature of images, on their ceaseless transformation and on the extraordinary ability to transcend the boundaries of the time.

The concept behind the exhibition evokes the spaces designed by man to create an ideal atmosphere: from the elegant Roman houses of ancient history right up to the new figurative frontiers generated by the’artificial intelligence. The artist’s installations do not merely occupy spaces, but arise from a direct engagement with the archaeological finds, transforming statues, frescoes e mosaics into active participants. The technical research carried out by Giorgio Tentolini is based on the distinctive use of the wire mesh, alongside materials such as steel e wax, produced through a painstaking process of cutting and layering that stands in contrast to the speed of digital technology.
