Arnaldo Pomodoro. Places, memories and visions
ARNALDO POMODORO FOUNDATION - Milan (MI)
includedFrom Saturday 4.10.2025 to Sunday 31.05.2026
With Open Studio #4, the Arnaldo Pomodoro Foundation continues the exhibition cycle dedicated to exploring the multiple aspects of the work and thought of Arnaldo Pomodoro, offering an immersive journey through fifty years of artistic activity. This new stage is structured around the concepts of place, memory e vision, key elements in the sculptor's reflection on the relationship between sculpture and space.
From the 1970s onwards, Pomodoro evolved his practice by conceiving sculpture as complex and immersive space, no longer a simple static object, but living environment where personal and collective memories intertwine in fluid visions. The exhibition opens in the spaces of the Courtyard and Salon, where around twenty works - including Sceptres, Shores of the seas, Rotary of Babylon, Sky rods e Cippi - are displayed in settings inspired by the experimental exhibitions of the 1980s and 1990s. These creations dialogue with each other, creating evocative environments, recalling contexts rich in history such as the Mediterranean and theEgypt.
In Design Laboratory, the protagonist is the section dedicated to Visionary projectsutopian spaces and sculptural environments, concrete or imagined, including the New Urbino Cemetery, The Pietrarubbia Group and the Fortress tent. Drawings, sketches and archive material complete the narrative. The exhibition concludes with Entry into the labyrinth (1995-2011), an emblematic work that sums up the entire thematic journey.
Alongside the exhibition, the guided tours and workshops, offering a unique opportunity to experience the Arnaldo Pomodoro Studio as true artist's workshop. The educational activities, designed for all ages, offer a hands-on approach to sculpture, printmaking and bookbinding, encouraging an active and participatory understanding of contemporary art.
