Nicola Villa. Trajectories of Moments
PALACE OF FEARS - Lecco (LC)
includedFrom Saturday 27.06.2026 to Sunday 20.09.2026
The city’s exhibition scene is hosting a major retrospective dedicated to the work of the architect and artist Nicola Villa, an anthological exhibition celebrating the last quarter of a century of his artistic output. Organised to mark the thirtieth anniversary of Acmt Odv, the initiative takes the form of a genuine city-wide exhibition that touches on the main cultural hubs of the Lecco Urban Museum System and the community’s most iconic sites, including the Visconti Towerthe Palazzo delle Paure, Piazza XX Settembrethe Archaeological Museum and the Palazzo Belgiojoso Natural History Museum, the the Chapel of St Charles in the Basilica of St Nicholas and thethe Resegone hospice at the “Alessandro Manzoni” Hospital in Lecco.
The visual exploration of Nicola Villa, born in Lecco and trained at the Milan Polytechnic, has always focused on the human condition. Through a plotless narrative, the artist captures the lives of his characters, immersing them in an imaginative atmosphere of subtle and elusive unease. Curated by the art historian Michele Tavola, visitors will be able to admire the variety of media used in his work: from traditional paintings on canvas and paper to drawings, from sculptures and installations to engravings (a field in which he is a regular participant at the Salon des Estampes in Paris with the Bellinzona Gallery). A key section describes the methodological shift of recent years, characterised by the structural use of digital media, digitally native works and interactive multimedia installations created with the collective Visual Substance. The entire project aims to spark a profound resonance around the idea of care as a universal form of beauty, placing the individual at the centre.
