The exhibition In the light of Segantini: All'ovile offers a unique opportunity to admire the masterpiece To the fold by Giovanni Segantinifrom a private collection. This painting is part of the so-called triptych of the stabletogether with The two mothers (1889) e At the spinning wheel (1891), works that share the setting in a stable and the exploration of the artificial light in dark environments.

In To the fold, Segantini delves into the theme of maternity, dear to the artist's heart: behind the female figure we see a wooden cradle, while a sheep suckles its lamb, emphasising the union between man, nature and animals, and the universal value of motherhood. The artist, in a letter of 23 October 1892 addressed to Alberto Grubicypresented the work under the title Nina Nana - lantern effecthighlighting his attention to the rendering of light. In the stable paintings, Segantini began to add gold to pigments, allowing a symbolic transfiguration of light.
