Natália Trejbalová. Forecast

Opening at Chiomonte the highly anticipated solo exhibition of the visual artist Natália Trejbalová. The project, conceived during a residency held in the context of valsusino, takes the form of an immersive environmental video installation that happily combines the narrative dimension with the most rigorous scientific investigation. The exhibition stems from the author's profound reflections on the concept of landscape understood as a living organism in mutation, and benefits from the prestigious collaboration of the glaciologist Biagio Di Mauro, researcher at’Institute of Polar Science of National Research Council.

Taking explicit inspiration from the painter's historical tablets Joseph Augustus Levis kept in the museum, the artist elects the Susa Valley a perfect case study for analysing the expanded temporality of geological bodies. L’valsusino alpine arc, understood as a borderland and natural threshold, thus becomes a silent witness to climatic accelerations and environmental transformations beyond human perception. Through the approaches of thought new materialist and the theories of mineral evolution, the landscape ceases to be a merely contemplative element and becomes an active subject.

In his practice, the artist blends scientific research and science fiction speculation, exploring the political potential of the worldbuilding to reshape our understanding of the ecosystem. The work unfolds in a non-linear visual construction where temporal and spatial fragments overlap, activating in the viewer a profound and renewed ecological awareness.
