Maurizio Cattelan. Seasons

The widespread exhibition Seasons by Maurizio Cattelan (Padua, 1960) invites a critical journey through the seasons of life and history: a journey that touches four locations - Palace of Reason, GAMeC, Former Oratory of St Wolf, Rotunda of the Thousand - to offer five emblematic works. November captures the essence of marginality in marble, highlighting the crisis and intimacy of the body with human toughness. Empire plays the metaphor of imprisoned power: a brick engraved with the word 'EMPIRE' is encased in glass, a conflict between strength and fragility, will and limit.

No is a visual censorship that oscillates between punishment and protection: Hitler's covered face becomes a device for reflection, shifting attention to the invisible. Bones transforms an eagle into a symbol of fall and vulnerability, depriving the power of its aura, exposed in the liminal space of the Oratory. One Finally, it dialogues with historical memory and the new generations: a child mimicking a gun on Garibaldi's shoulders becomes a figure of continuity and interruption, questioning collective values and responsibilities. Cattelan It thus composes a mosaic of tensions: marginality, authority, censorship, vulnerability, memory, rebellion. An invitation to experience reality in its complexity and drama, because art 'interprets, problematises and transforms' time, values and generations.
