MEF | ETTORE FICO MUSEUM - Turin (TO)
includedFrom Thursday 23.01.2025 to Sunday 27.04.2025
Marie-Claire Mitout spent over a month in Piedmont, capturing the soul of places through its temperas on paper. The exhibition brings together his most recent works, depicting iconic corners such as the’Abbey of Vezzolano, the Sacra di San Michelethe Cathedral of Asti, the Palatine Gates Gardensthe Egyptian Museum and the hills of Monferrato. Each painting is a window onto a Trip to Italy personal and romantic, in which the visitor is invited to lose himself in architectural details and timeless landscapes.
Although small in size (21×29.7 cm), the works of Mitout have a monumental depththeir landscapes, populated or silent, evoke impressive frescoes, in which perspective and colour create an immersive effect. Architectural and natural details dissolve into vibrant hues, making the image fluid and elusive, almost as if to deceiving perception of the spectator.
The uniformity of the format recalls the seriality of writing, like a pictorial diary that tells the essence of everyday life. Each work is a piece of a larger mosaic, a visual tale that unfolds timelessly, similar to a serial novel, mysterious and compelling.
