One hundred years after the death of Italy's first queen, this rich dossier exhibition celebrates the figure of Margherita of Savoy through a double route hosted between the Royal Library and historical rooms. The documentary section brings together a valuable, largely unpublished selection of printed books, archival documents, engravings e photographs, which tell the story of the sovereign's life, cultural interests and refined book collection.
For this important anniversary, the splendid 18th-century rooms on the first floor of Royal Palace, where the flat inhabited by Margaret bears witness to the evolution of taste and the ceremonial needs of the court related to the crucial period of the’Unification of Italy. In the atmospheric Hall of Medallions an unprecedented exhibition dialogue between the sumptuous cradle of Victor Emmanuel III and monumental furnishings made by the famous cabinetmaker Michele Dellera.
The event is a unique opportunity to understand the cultural and iconographic impact that the sovereign had on the entire nation.
