The MuSa - Salò Museum hosts the exhibition The Last Winter. 1943-1945. From Resistance to Liberationan intense and engaging journey that brings to light the last years of the World War II in the territory Brescia and Garda area. The exhibition, curated by Rolando Anniis distinguished by the richness and variety of the material on display: archive photographs, unpublished images and multimedia contributions that build a living archive of memory.
The photographs, from important institutions such as theArchives of the Brescian Resistance and Contemporary Age, the Micheletti Foundation, l'Stagnoli Archive, l'Zane Archive and from numerous family funds, give an authentic and poignant picture of those years: scenes of daily life, acts of couragedramatic moments and the struggle of men and women who, between snow, hunger and rakingThey chose freedom against oppression.
Particular emphasis is given to the work of Angio Zane, a young partisan and future filmmaker, who immortalised powerful symbols such as the footprints in the snowa metaphor for hope and resistance. The exhibition also dedicates ample space to the role of the womensilent protagonists as relay girls and memory keepers, and to the local communities that offered support and shelter. Also evocative are the photographs of Stefano Stagnoliwitnessing the days of the German retreat in Sand Valley.
The Last Winter is not only a historical exhibition, but an invitation to reflect on the value of democracy and freedomfragile achievements that require responsibility and awareness. A journey that invites us to move from 'knowing' to 'understanding', through images that do not provide answers, but generate emotions and new questions.
