LIMES 2. Crossing Language Boundaries

The exhibition project of the Foundation 107 a Turin continues with the exhibition curated by Federico Piccari, shifting the central focus to the threshold of language. Well twenty-five artists explore the relationship between different languages through techniques of painting, sculpture e installation, thereby effectively challenging the traditional dichotomy between abstract and figurative. The work of art thus becomes a dynamic space of transition in which image, sign, matter and emotion are constantly changing.

The exhibition takes an in-depth look at the season of the’Informal of the end of the 1950s, a period during which the gesture and the matter have become essential tools for expressing a profound emotional dimension. This reflection extends to a comparison between different cultures and visual systems, creating a dialogue between contemporary research and historical artefacts such as the Iranian Tabriz carpet, the Adouma mask from Gabon and the Kuba textiles from the Congo.

Furthermore, the interplay between visual arts and poetry: the artists have personally selected poets and texts to accompany their own works, including original writings. For authors who are no longer alive, the poetic dialogue has been developed through the use of the’artificial intelligence.
