The public is welcomed by a poetic and immersive installation that marks a milestone in the digital art history. Les Pissenlitsconceived in 1990 by Michel Bret and Edmond Couchotis presented as a visionary work in which technology, nature and creativity dialogue in a continuous cycle. On a large screen ethereal digital showerheads swaying to the rhythm of an invisible wind. A breath in the microphone is enough to transform human breath into virtual windSeeds detach, dance lightly, reach unexpected angles, and then regenerate into new forms. Each spectator thus becomes co-creator of an ever-changing work that reveals the expressive power of the interaction between man and machine.
The installation, on loan from the prestigious ZKM - Centre for Art and Media in Karlsruheis a pioneering example of interactive artcapable of anticipating the creative potential of digital and reflecting on the relationship between simulated natural phenomena and technological languages. Bret and Couchot, two central figures of the French scene, have combined their artistic and scientific research to develop experiences that focus on the active participation of the public, transforming a gesture as simple as breathing into a poetic and transformative act.
A work that invites us to question the intuitive interfaces and the evocative power of digital simulationsoffering a journey suspended between art, science and enchantment.
