You, the Resistance

The exhibition You, the Resistancehoused in the imposing Fort of Gavirepresents a powerful homage to the80th anniversary of the Liberation of Italy from Nazi-fascism. Edited by Virginia Monteverde with Manuela Composti and the critical presentation of Roberto Mastroianni, the exhibition is organised in collaboration with theArt Commission and is one of the events of the SECRETS. Traces of Memorydedicated to the memory of the Shoah. The exhibition route proposes a feminine look at the Resistancehighlighting the forgotten stories of courageous women who were instrumental in winning freedom.

Six contemporary women artists - Antonella Cinelli, Lory Ginedumont, Samanta Malavasi, Annalisa Pisoni Cimelli, Setsuko e Claudia Virginia Vitari - interpret the Resistance with different artistic languages, creating installations and works that recount memory, rights, equality. The exhibition is enriched by the contribution of ANPI Genoa, Bologna, Ovada and Borghetto Lodigianoand theBenedicta Memorial Associationwith historical materials, photographs, testimonies and the docuvideo Seeking Freedom between cliff and rockdedicated to the Benedicta massacre.

An intense experience, blending contemporary art, historical memory e civic engagementpaying tribute to an important part of our collective history and restoring voice and visibility to often forgotten protagonists.
