Restoration and Comparisons represents a unique opportunity to admire, for the first time side by sidetwo extraordinary Renaissance tables depicting the Sacred Kinship o Genealogy of the Virginmade in the early 16th century from Gandolfino from Roretoone of the most significant protagonists of the Piedmontese Renaissance. The works, respectively from the Church of Santa Maria Assunta di Grignasco and by Palazzo Madama in Turindialogue in an installation that highlights the stylistic affinities and the iconographic differences between the two masterpieces.
The exhibition route starts from the recent restoration of the Grignasco table, conducted between 2022 and 2024 at the La Venaria Reale Conservation and Restoration Centrewhich has restored full legibility to the chromatic details and refinement of Gandolfino's painting. The initiative allows an in-depth study of the strong relationship of the artist with the theme of Sacred Kinshipa subject seldom seen in Italy but very popular in northern European art, centred on the descendants of St Anne through his three marriages.
