The exhibition proposes a historical insight of importance dedicated to clandestine healthcare developed during the years of the World War II, a period when doctors, nurses e civilians operated under extreme conditions to save lives. Through the analysis of original documents, testimonials direct, photographs vintage and precious archive materials, the exhibition accurately reconstructs a dense solidarity network e resistance which came to life in the territory of the Pinerolese. In a dramatic context, deeply marked by the repression, from violence war and a chronic scarcity of resources, the act of the care turned into a supreme gesture of courage e civil liability.
The stories presented along the exhibition route aim to restore voice and dignity to historical figures often remained in the shadows, silent protagonists of daily gestures of extraordinary humanity. The exhibition illustrates in detail the’rescue organisation, identifying the places of hidden care and the ingenious emergency strategies adopted to escape the strict controls of the occupying authorities. Special attention is paid to the fundamental role of the local communities, which contributed in a decisive and risky way to the protection of the wounded, of the partisan fighters and all persecuted by the regime, turning medical care into a real instrument of struggle and freedom.
