Duca degli Abruzzi' National Mountain Museum - Turin (TO)
includedFrom Thursday 2.04.2026 to Sunday 11.10.2026
The National Mountain Museum in Turin presents an extraordinary exhibition dedicated to two mountaineering giants: Giusto Gervasutti e Gabriele Boccalatte. Edited by Enrico Camanni, the exhibition offers a profound and unprecedented look at the human and technical partnership between these two legendary figures who marked the history of climbing in the Turin between the two wars. The exhibition is the result of meticulous study and digitisation of precious materials, including the Andrea Filippi Fund, the donation of Gianni Gervasutti and the documents of the Boccalatte family.
Through a rich heritage of photographs, notebooks, personal documents e vintage equipment, visitors can rediscover the epic feats in the Mont Blanc, from Pic Adolphe Rey to the pillar of the Pic Gugliermina, to Gervasutti's masterpiece on the East Face of the Grandes Jorasses. The exhibition is not limited to athletic feats, but explores the’mountaineering and educational heritage of the two protagonists, embodied by the National Mountaineering School Giusto Gervasutti. Particular emphasis is given to the section multimedia, which includes a unreleased footage of Fortissimo in action on the Wall of the Militia and the installation dedicated to the film Ninì, celebrating the bond between Boccalatte and his wife Ninì Pietrasanta. A choral tale that combines technique, artistic sensitivity and the timeless fascination of rock “gyms” such as the Sbarua and the Teeth of Cumiana.
