includedFrom Saturday 1.03.2025 to Sunday 11.05.2025
The exhibition Beauty liberated. Leonardo Bistolfi and his Divisionist friends represents an extraordinary journey into the artistic universe of Leonardo Bistolfi, a prominent symbolist sculptor, and his contemporaries pointillist painters. The exhibition aims to explore the dialogue between sculpture and painting the late 19th and early 20th century, highlighting the intense relationship between Bistolfi and some of the most important artists of Italian Divisionism.
Through a selection of significant works, the exhibition illustrates stylistic and thematic evolution of the Casalese sculptor, highlighting his contribution to the Symbolist movement and his ability to translate into marble and bronze the same luminous and chromatic vibrations sought by Divisionist painters. The exhibition presents masterpieces that bear witness to the artistic innovation and experimentation of that period, bringing out the subtle link between the plasticity of Bistolfi's sculptures and Divisionist technique, characterised by the use of fragmented brushstrokes and research into light.
The Casale Monferrato Civic Museum, a place steeped in history and culture, offers the ideal setting for this exhibition, allowing visitors to immerse themselves in an evocative journey between painting and sculpture, discovering the intertwining of art, symbolism and luministic experimentation.
