In 500th anniversary of Battle of Pavia (24 February 1525), one of the most decisive of the Renaissance, the Municipal Museums of the Visconti Castle of Pavia host a interactive multimedia exhibition which traces not only the phases of the clash between the French army of Francis I and the imperial troops of Charles Vbut also the historical, geopolitical and cultural context that was the backdrop.
The exhibition is developed in a articulated routewith insights into Europe and Italy in the Italian Wars, military strategies, organisation of armies, weapons of the time, the siege of the city and the consequences of the battle on the Duchy of Milan and beyond. A special section is dedicated to theiconography of the battlewith digital reproductions of maps, documents and works of art.
Central element of the exhibition are the immersive technologies such as Virtual Reality (VR), Augmented Reality (AR) and Projection Mapping, allowing visitors to experience the crucial phases of the battle up close. In addition to the digital content, the original painting The siege of Pavia (1932) by Mario Acerbian important pictorial testimony that restores the atmosphere of the period.
The exhibition is part of a larger programme of events that includes a historical re-enactment, a great art exhibition, international conferencesbook and documentary exhibitions, as well as a running at the sites of the battle.
